Weekly public concerts held in the Bowl-In-The-Pines offer each camper at NEMC unique performing opportunities. The camp's Music Library, where music has been collected for nearly 70 years, provides a comprehensive repertoire of band, orchestral, choral, and ensemble literature.
The social highlights of the camp season are the POPS Concerts, held at the Messalonskee Performing Arts Center. Our performing groups offer lighter programming for an enthusiastic audience of area residents, parents, and alumni.
Campers may perform solo and ensemble works in weekly student honor student recitals. On the concert stage, students showcase their talents before audiences that include the camp family, as well as local and out-of-state visitors. We also hold area recitals each month to ensure that all students have the opportunity to perform.
Each month, qualified students may audition for the honor of appearing in a Concerto performance with the NEMC Faculty Orchestra.
Campers may join chamber groups comprising woodwinds, brass, strings, and percussion. Supervised by the faculty, these groups offer another dimension of musical learning and experience.
Each session, NEMC invites at least one guest artist with exceptional musical talent and accomplishment to present a Master Class. These artists also work with interested campers individually and in small groups.
