(This list represents a sampling of our summer music camp course selection and is subject to change.)

Major Performing Groups: Two levels of each performing group are offered to accommodate both intermediate and more advanced musicians. Placement auditions are held on the first day of each session. Each group performs weekly in a concert at the outdoor amphitheater, Bowl in the Pines. NEMC campers are required to participate at least one major performing group and are welcome to participate in more than one group.

Concert Band, Symphony Band, Chamber Choir, Chorale, Concert Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble.

Minor Performing Groups: Minor performing groups are faculty coached small group and chamber music ensembles that meet several times a week. Groups are formed by faculty committee based on first day of camp placement audition.

Brass Chamber Ensembles, Woodwind Chamber Ensembles, String Chamber Ensembles (including qualified pianists and guitarists), Guitar Ensemble, Cello Choir, Percussion Ensembles, Jazz Combo

Applied Classes: Applied classes are geared towards a camper’s specific major or minor instrument/voice and may require additional audition.

Collaborative Piano (for advanced pianists), Keyboard Skills (for intermediate pianists), Jazz Improvisation, Viola for Violinists, Suzuki Violin Class, Orchestra Literature, Piano Studio Class, Reed Making for Oboes and Bassoons, Music Theory (levels are assigned based on theory test taken on first day of camp), Diction for Singers, Vocal Seminar, Vocal Workshop

Electives: Electives are offered without pre-requisite, however, guitar classes should be taken in order.

Conducting (for Senior campers – limited class size), Guitar Class (for beginners, limited class size), Intermediate Guitar Class (limited class size), Jazz Appreciation, World Music.
